چکیده

Producing safe and high-quality food is increasingly important, developing durum wheat varieties with low toxicity crucial to meeting this demand. Durum breeders can achieve goal by new that are either more resistant arsenic uptake or better adapted grow in areas high levels. High levels of pose serious health hazards, which makes it critical evaluate the Therefore, study evaluated diverse genotypes, including Turkish-released cultivars local landraces. The results showed all genotypes had significantly non-toxic arsenic, an average concentration 5.24 μg/kg. These concentrations were much lower than minimum reported numerous published research studies well below risky international standard limits for grain (0.1 mg/kg). also identified two significant marker-trait associations linked contents located on chromosomes 4A 7B, explained 11-17% phenotypic variation. findings provide valuable insights into highlight need ongoing monitoring ensure healthy consumers. By conducting collaborative genome-wide association employing marker-assisted selection, accelerate creation have reduced identifying alleles content. This emphasizes importance low-toxicity safety quality our supply. inform breeding programs develop such contribute sustainable agriculture. While study’s methodology was robust, further necessary confirm validate genetic factors contributing variation content among different genotypes.

Transfer of Soft Kernel Texture from Triticum aestivum to Durum Wheat, Triticum turgidum ssp. durum

Durum wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. durum) is a leading cereal grain whose primary use is the production of semolina and pasta. Its rich culinary relationship to humans is related, in part, to its very hard kernel texture. This very hard texture is due to the loss of the Puroindoline genes that were eliminated during the allopolyploid formation of T. turgidum approximately 0.5 million years ago...

SNP-based association analysis for seedling traits in durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. durum (Desf.))

In the present study, 150 accessions of worldwide originated durum wheat germplasm (Triticum turgidum spp. durum) were observed for major seedling traits and their growth. The accessions were evaluated for major seedling traits under controlled conditions of hydroponics at the 13th, 20th, 27th and 34th day-after germination. Biomass traits were measured at the 34th day-after germination. Correl...

Association of Agronomic Traits with SNP Markers in Durum Wheat (Triticum turgidum L. durum (Desf.))

Association mapping is a powerful approach to detect associations between traits of interest and genetic markers based on linkage disequilibrium (LD) in molecular plant breeding. In this study, 150 accessions of worldwide originated durum wheat germplasm (Triticum turgidum spp. durum) were genotyped using 1,366 SNP markers. The extent of LD on each chromosome was evaluated. Association of singl...

Novel Sources of Stripe Rust Resistance Identified by Genome-Wide Association Mapping in Ethiopian Durum Wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. durum)

Stripe rust of wheat, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), is a global concern for wheat production, and has been increasingly destructive in Ethiopia, as well as in the United States and in many other countries. As Ethiopia has a long history of stripe rust epidemics, its native wheat germplasm harbors potentially valuable resistance loci. Moreover, the Ethiopian germplasm has ...

Genetic variation for glutenin and gliadins associated with quality in durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. ssp. turgidum) landraces from Spain

The allelic variation at seven prolamin loci involved in quality has been studied in a set of durum wheat landraces from all the Spanish regions where this crop has been traditionally cultivated. The genetic variability was higher than that found in other germplasm collections. All the loci, except Glu-B2, displayed a genetic variability higher than 0.62, with Glu-3 the most polymorphic. In tot...
